To build a waiver or use a template, you must be a User with Admin access (Non-Profit Admin, Org Admin, Site Admin). If you don't have access, then you won't be able to access the Create Waiver tab on your organization's Otter Dashboard.
If you have admin access and have setup an organization and profile, click on Document Builder and select Build Waiver.
Selecting Build Waiver opens a new section to build your waiver. Follow these 6 sections to build a waiver.
1. Organizer
The Organizer section will automatically fill in from your organization profile. If your organization information is wrong, click here to change your organization profile before you continue.
If the information is correct, click the the check box to confirm and click Next.
2. Waiver Details
Fill in the details of your event with the following information:
- Waiver Title
- Type
- Activities
- Intensity Level
- Select Participants
Otter Waiver makes it easy to build a waiver. We know what fields are required for Minors and Adult participants. You can click the yellow info button next to Participants to view the fields we populate.
On the right side of the screen we will display any legal facts we might have based on your location.
Click Next to save the data and move to the next screen.
3. Waiver Body
You can copy and paste your waiver title and body text. In the Body section, you can edit the text with Bold, Italic, bullets, etc. You can also change the suggested text for the signature page but not the title "Signature page to <waiver title>." <Waiver Title> is auto filled in from the waiver title above.
- Add Waiver Title
- Add Body of the waiver
- Signature Page Text (Keep or change)
Click Next to save the data and move to the next screen.
4. Optional Fields
Do you need to collect extra information from your participants for email marketing or your event? You can add up to 5 additional questions that you can customize. This works the same as Google Forms. It's a great way to collect additional information like the examples below:
DO YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS OR ALLERGIES WE SHOULD BE AWARE OF THAT WOULD IMPACT THE ABILITY TO DRIVE OR RIDE A SNOWMOBILE OR ATV?
- Yes
- No
What is your riding level:
- new rider
- a few times
- regular rider
- frequent rider
Users can not ask for specific medical information that could violate HIPPA Privacy.
Click Next to save the data and move to the next screen.
5. Preview
This is your preview screen and final review of your waiver until it is published.
Otter provides powerful tools to help create waivers for your business. Use of and access to Otter’s tools does not create an attorney-client relationship. It is your responsibility to review the final result with a legal adviser to confirm that your published waiver is suitable for your business.
At this point, you can save as a draft to review or publish.
Click Publish to save the data and publish your waiver and go to the settings page.
6. Publish
The publish screen gives you access to add team members, grab the waiver link, download QR code and create a custom SMS text message. Use the links above to learn more about this page.
Once done you can click out of this page to return to your organization's Otter Dashboard.
