1. Maintaining Phone Number Activity
OtterText pays a monthly fee to carriers to keep your phone number active. Even if you aren’t actively using the service, this cost ensures that your number stays connected and ready for use at any time.
2. Web Chat, Opt-In Links, and Keywords
If you’re utilizing features like web chat, opt-in links, or keywords that direct people to your phone number, these remain active whether or not you’re actively sending messages. Pausing the account would disrupt these critical features.
What Are Your Options Instead?
Downgrade Your Plan
While pausing isn’t an option, you can downgrade your plan to reduce costs. However, please note:
- Downgrading below the Essentials plan (e.g., to the Light plan) will require you to turn off all premium features and integrations.
- Disconnecting premium features will incur a fee, as will reconnecting them in the future.
